Mintaraga - (Begawan) - Mahabharata[edit | edit source]

Mintaraga, namely Arjuna during his time in seclusion. Minta means to separate, body means the gross body, so at that time Arjuna cleared his mind, so that he could separate from the gross body. Arjuna's desire to meditate was to be victorious in the Baratayudha war. In general, an ascetic gets tempted by all kinds of demons, so that he cancels his temptation. In this story, a giant king named Prabu Niwatakawaca is narrated in Ima-imantaka. This king wanted to marry an angel in Suralaya (the place of the gods) named Dewi Supraba, but the request was rejected by Hyang Indra.

Because of this refusal, Prabu Niwatakawaca was very angry, he wanted to destroy Kaendran (place of Betara Indra). At the time of this incident, Raden Arjuna was meditating on Indrakila hill with the title Begawan Mintaraga. But actually Arjuna's asceticism made Lord Indra worry, because Arjuna would be asked for his help to fight against a giant King Prabu Niwatakawaca, who was going to attack Kaendran. So Betara Indra left it to the angels to tempt Arjuna, so that his marriage would be nullified.

This was followed by the arrival of the hermitage's ambassador Prabu Niwatakawaca, in the form of a magical monster named Mamangmurka. The arrival of this monster intends to destroy Raden Arjuna. When Mamangmurka arrived at the hermitage, he destroyed the hermitage area. After this was known by Arjuna, Arjuna swore to Mamangmurka, he said: "The behavior of this monster is like a wild boar". At that moment, Mamangmurka changed his form into a wild boar and was followed by Hyang Indra by changing the form of a priest named Resi Padya and intending to kill the boar. He shot his arrow at the boar's body, and Arjuna followed the boar and shot at the animal as well.
Because of that there was a difference between the two, each admitting that the arrow that hit the wild boar was his arrow. But actually Hyang Indra was very happy about that incident because Hyang Indra could burden Arjuna and would ask Arjuna for help to destroy Prabu Niwatakawaca. Lord Indra's wish was fulfilled, Niwatakawaca was destroyed by Arjuna.

As a gift to Arjuna, Arjuna was appointed as king in Kaindran for a long time. According to God's calculations, a day in the human realm is equal to a month in Kaindran. Arjuna is called king of Kariti.
