Durna - (Resi) - Mahabharata

Because of his supernatural powers and skills in soldiering, Resi Durna was believed to be the teacher of Pandawa and Kurawa children. Resi Durna had a magical heirloom in the form of a keris called Cundamanik and Sangkali arrows (given to Arjuna). Resi Durna succeeded in establishing the Sokalima hermitage after successfully seizing almost half of the territory of the Pancala country from the control of King Drupada.
In the role of Bharatayuda, Resi Durna was appointed as the Great Senapati of Kurawa, after the death of Resi Bhishma. Resi Durna was very skilled in war tactics and was always precise in determining the title of war.

The sage Durna died on the battlefield by a sword slash from Drestajumena, the son of King Drupada, who cut off his head. It is said that Resi Durna's death was due to the revenge of Prabu Ekalaya, king of the Paranggelung country, whose spirit merged with Drestajumena's body.

Dahyang Durna
When Dahyang Durna was young, his name was Bambang Kumbayana. He comes from Atasangin, has good faith and is powerful. Kumbayana has an adopted brother. named Bambang Sucitra who left his country and went to Java. Kumbayana then followed, but when he arrived at the edge of the ocean he stopped there sadly. Then he said that whoever can take him across to Java will be considered his brother if the person is a man and will be made his wife if the person is a woman. As soon as he finished saying his words, a winged mare approached Kumbayana. Kumbayana felt that the horse would help him cross. He mounted the horse and as fast as lightning he was flown to Java. After Kumbayana fell, the horse gave birth to a boy and the horse turned into an angel, named Dewi Wilotama and continued to fly into the sky. The child was named Bambang Aswatama.

Kumbayana is getting more and more difficult, because during the trip he has to support the baby. Until finally he was in Cempalareja, the country of his adopted brother, Bambang Sucitra who was enthroned there with the title of Prabu Drupada. With joy, Kumbayana went up to the hall and when he recognized his adopted brother again, he shouted, "Sucitra, Sucitra!"
Gandamana, King Drupada's brother-in-law, was very angry when he heard Kumbayana's call, which he considered insulting the king, and he persecuted Kumbayana, until his body was deformed, King Drupada was too late to hear about the incident. He kept Kumbayana and told him to live in Sokalima, under the name Dahyang Durna.
Durna then enslaved himself to the king of Astina, Prabu Suyudana and was appointed as a priest and teacher of all Kauravas and Pendawa. Durna is a wise priest. Wrekodara was his true disciple. With the intention of Wrekodara drowning in the sea, he tricked his student, and told him to jump into the sea. All of Durna's instructions that were actually misleading were followed by Wrekodara obediently and prayed that this knight could meet his real god, namely Dewa Ruci who gave him guidance, to make Wrekodara's knowledge even more perfect.

When Durna and Sakuni are played together, these two characters often joke around, even in front of the king. This way of playing should be removed from wayang, because it doesn't make sense for people to joke around in front of the king.

In the Barayuda war, Durna was killed by Raden Drustajumna because of a dagger stab that had entered the soul of Prabu Palgunadi who took revenge on Durna.
Dahyang Durna with squinty eyes and a crooked nose, like a worn-out whetstone. Gummy mouth (the gums are visible). The chin is wrinkled, indicating the chin of the old man. Bearded. Cloth in the shape of a priest's robe. Only his back hand can be moved. The other hand holds the rosary. In cinderella pants and shoes.
