Yamadipati - (Hyang / Batara) All stories

Batara Yamadipati or Sang hyang Yamadipati is the deity of life (God of death). He is crowned with a mask, decorated with an eagle on his back and dressed in waderan. Armed with weapons and dressed according to the customs of the Gods. With wide eyes (blinking, but rarely), indicating its ferocity. Having a human nose, which means not having a puppet-like nose, symbolizes that this God is always approaching people. This god has the power to hold the keys to hell and the power to take away human lives. Thus, it became the belief of the ancient people that if a sick person sees the arrival of Hyang Yamadipati, the sick person is near death.

Dewi Mumpuni didn't feel happy being married to a god who had an ugly and scary face. Therefore, Dewi Mumpuni fell in love with Bambang Nagatatmala, the son of Sang Hyang Antaboga. As a result of the scandal, there was chaos in heaven. Finally, Bathara Yamadipati was willing to let go of Dewi Mumpuni to marry Nagatatmala. With the departure of his wife, Batara Yamadipati was sad. Therefore, when he met Dewi Sawitri, who was very loving and loyal to her husband, Setiawan, he was very amazed and respectful. Because he was amazed by the woman's loyalty, Yamadipati, with his authority, canceled his task of taking the life of Setiawan, Sawitri's husband. Even Batara Yamadipati gave blessings to the Sawitri-Setiawan couple so that they lived long and had 40 children. Unlike other gods, Batara Yamadipati's heaven is not permanent. The heaven was built by Batara Wismakarma, it can be moved around according to the owner's wishes.

Once upon a time, Batara Yamadipati once fought against Dasamuka, the king of Alengka. To measure his magic after learning from Resi Subali, Dasamuka rode the Wimana Puspaka to take his team to Yamaloka, which is hell for people who have done evil throughout their lives. On the way, Batara Narada tried to prevent Dasamuka's intentions. However, Ravana considered this advice only a passing wind.
A battle took place between Alengka's forces and the Yamakingkaras, guardians of hell. It turned out that Yamadipati's men were not able to resist the attack of a giant force from Alengka. As a result, many inhabitants of hell helped the giants fight the Yamakingkara.
Finally, Batara Yamadipati came down to the arena, the giants ran frantically back to Alengka. Now Dasamuka is left to face Batara Yamadipati. The duel between the two was a draw. Unable to control his anger, Batara Yama then prepared the ultimate weapon called Kaladenda. Betara Brahma, who witnessed the duel, hurriedly intervened, because if Kaladenda was released, not only would the world be destroyed by the apocalypse, heaven would also be devastated. In return, Batara Brama handed over Hamoga's weapon to be used. With Hamoga's weapon Batara Yamadipati managed to expel Dasamuka.
