Jatayu - Ramayana

Jatayu was an eagle, who died while trying to thwart the kidnapping of Dewi Sinta by Prabu Dasamuka, king of Alengka. He is the youngest son of Garuda Brihawan, the big bird that Batara Wishnu rode on. He has a brother named Sempati.

While still in the form of eggs, Jatayu and Sempati were adopted as children by Dewi Ngruna, one of Batara Surya's wives.
While he was flying in the air, he heard the sound of a woman moaning. Immediately he flew closer to the sound. It turned out that he saw King Dasamuka carrying away a beautiful princess by force. He immediately attacked the giant king from Lanka and tried to seize the woman.
Jatayu managed to snatch Sita from Dasamuka's hands, but quickly, Dasamuka managed to catch up with him and cut off one of his wings with Candrasa sanjata, so that he managed to snatch Dewi Sita back.
Jatayu fell to the earth, onto the rocks in Chadayamangalam. Before he died, he had time to tell Ramawijaya, who at that time found him, that his wife had been kidnapped by the king of Alengka, named Prabu Dasamuka.
Jatayu finally lost his life, died completely and ascended to heaven together with his body.
