Personal data | Indra is a son of Batara Guru (Siwa) and Dewi Uma. He is the god of rain and thunder. Bathara Indra is also the ancestor of five Pandhawa Brothers (see the story of Bambang Bremani). Batara Indra is married to Dewi Wiyati and is blessed with five sons and three daughters. His five sons were named Batara Citrarata, Batara Citragna, Batara Citrasena, Batara Jayantaka, Batara Jayantara and Batara Arjunawangsa. He also has three daughters, Dewi Tara who later married Subali and then Prabu Sugriwa. Dewi Tari, the Goddess of Dance, who married Rahwana, the king of Alengka, and Dewi Supraba who married Arjuna. Indra is the father/begetter of Arjuna by Dewi Kunti. |
Appearance | Quite short-tempered. The face is light green, the rest of the body is gilded. The eyes are large and have red irises. The nose is pointed and straight. The mouth is slightly open and shows white teeth. On the head the figure wears a gilded diadem and a wound headscarf in the colours red, white and light green. The gilded earrings run to the back. The dark pink shoulder cloth (slendang) is draped around the shoulders. The belt (sabuk) is black with a gilded middle edge. The skirt (beded) is dyed in a pattern of brown and white using the batik technique. Red and green double bracelets are worn on the arms. |
