She was the biological mother of three Pandava sons, namely, Yudhistira, Werkudara (Bima), and Arjuna. Kunti had a brother named Basudewa who was none other than the father of Baladewa, Krishna and Subadra . Apart from having children from Pandu, Kunti also had another son, Karna.
When she was a baby, Kunti's name was Perta, but later she was adopted by King Kuntiboja , who had no children and since then she was given the name Kunti. When Kunti was still young, she was given a magic spell by the sage Durwasa so she could summon the Gods and Goddesses she wanted. One day Kunti wanted to try this mantra and she called one of the gods, namely Surya . Surya then asked what Kunti wanted, but because she was only trying, Kunti told the god to return to her residence. Because Kunti had called the god Surya but did not want anything, Surya gave Kunti a son.
But Kunti did not want a son at that time, so she drowned Karna in the Aswa river. The baby was then picked up by a coachman of Hastinapura palace named Adirata, he then named the baby Karna.
Kunti was married to Pandu, king of Hastinapura. Pandu also married Madri (Dewi Madrim) as his second wife. However, they did not have children, this was because Pandu received a curse from Resi Kindama, that he would not be able to produce offspring, and if he did that, Pandu would die. With a spell mastered by Kunti, he summoned the gods and asked for a son from them. Lord Yama cameand gave them their first son, who was named Yudhishthira . From the god Bayu, Bima was born, and finally from the god Indra , Arjuna was born. Kunti then told Madri the mantra. Madri succeeded in summoning Dewa Aswin and had twin sons named Nakula and Sadewa . The five sons of Pandu were known as the Pandavas.
After the deaths of Pandu and Madri, Kunti raised the five sons alone. And according to his promise to Madri, he treated Nakula and Sadewa like his own sons. Kunti followed her sons wherever they went, including when the Pandavas were in exile, she always accompanied her five sons in joy and sorrow. After the great war in Kurukhsetra (Bharathayuddha) ended, Kunti and her other brothers-in-law such as Dhritarashtra (Korawa's father), Vidura , and Gandhari (Korawa's mother) left worldly life. They meditated in the forest, until the end of their lives burning with their own sacred fire.
