Renuka – (Dewi) – Mahabharata

In the world of puppetry, there is a story related to morality. However, the state did not take care of it because it had been resolved within the family. The drama of shame occurred in the family of Resi Jamadagni.

Living in the countryside
Once upon a time, Prabu Jamadagni decided to abdicate in the Kanyakawaya Kingdom because he felt that he no longer had the pride and pleasure of being a king. He wanted to find true peace in life as his age continued to grow older. Jamadagni chose to become a brahmana at the Dewasana Hermitage. His wife, Dewi Renuka, and his five sons, Rumawan, Susena, Wasu, Wismawasu, and Ramabargawa, were also brought along. They left all the luxuries in the palace and lived simply in the countryside. The Dewasana Hermitage is located in a remote village that is beautiful with various flowering plants and shady plants. Every day from morning to evening, birds chirping happily can be heard non-stop. When night falls, the atmosphere feels peaceful and calms the heart. Around the hermitage there are secondary crops. Not too far away there is a fairly wide spring surrounded by a number of large trees. In the middle of the spring there is a clear spring. Renuka occasionally takes a drink of water there.

One day, Renuka saw a handsome young man bathing in the spring. Her heart immediately beat fast and her hands could no longer hold the jug. Her body became 'cool and hot' with her eyes unblinking exploring the naked man's body. Suddenly her eyes were caught looking at the man. Renuka looked embarrassed and lowered her head but was unable to look away, she seemed enchanted. Especially when the man then smiled. Renuka was truly helpless because of it. Since being in the hermitage, Renuka lost the warmth of bed. Her husband spent more time doing puja brata (meditation). In fact, Renuka, even though she was no longer young, her libido never faded. Her face was still beautiful and her body was always slender.
Therefore, her lust immediately boiled over when she found a naked man who was ciblon (swimming) in the spring. When the man asked her to take a bath with him, Renuka couldn't control herself and just obeyed.
When they were face to face, Renuka felt that the world belonged to both of them. Don't remember anything, there is beauty. It was in that place that the two people became official, carrying out actions like husband and wife. The cool water and gentle breeze made them fly higher. The man who caused Renuka to 'lose her memory' was named Citrarata, ruler of the Martikawata Kingdom. The king with a warrior character liked to hunt in the forest. It was in the spring that he let go of his tiredness after exploring the wilderness.

Atone for sins
Renuka suddenly regained consciousness after the peak of pleasure passed. He then hurriedly put on clothes and returned to the hermitage. His heart was troubled by what had happened. Fear and guilt pounced on him deeply. The husband was waiting. He asked where he was from and what had just happened. Renuka gets nervous and doesn't answer. Her lips were tightly closed, her eyes filled with tears. When her husband asked again, Renuka knelt down and sobbed.
Jamadagni knew his wife had done wrong and had to atone for her sins. He ordered Rumawan to punish his mother. However, while crying, his eldest son begged for forgiveness for not being willing to carry out his father's orders.
The other three children also refused his orders. Only Rama Bargawa was willing. In the hands of his youngest son, Renuka paid for her mistake. Jamadagni asked Rama Bargawa what he wanted after carrying out his orders. He asked that his mother be brought back to life, his sin against the woman who had given birth to him be forgiven, and all family members could forget the dark stain that had occurred. In addition, Rama Bargawa also asked to have unparalleled supernatural powers so that no one could defeat him. This was because he wanted to take revenge on the knight. According to him, the disgrace that befell his family was the act of the knight (Citrarata). All his requests were fulfilled, only the last one could not be fully granted. Rama Bargawa inherited the ability nggegirisi (extraordinary), but could still be defeated by the command of the incarnation of Bathara Vishnu.
Long story short, after the embarrassing incident, the Jamadagni family went back to knitting happiness until disaster struck. The hermitage was suddenly destroyed by a horde of people led by a knight named Hehaya. Jamadagni fell while defending himself. When the incident happened, Rama Bargawa was leaving the house. The heartbreaking event strengthened Rama Bargawa's hatred for the knight. He vowed to kill every knight he met. The adventure of slicing Rama Bargawa just stopped when he met Ramawijaya, a drop of Bathara Vishnu.

Maintain morale
Rama Bargawa's departure to exterminate the knights makes Renuka nervous. Moreover, one by one her four children died. The pangs of grief gnawed at Renuka's soul and body until she finally followed her husband to the afterlife.
The wisdom of this story is that the dream of Jamadagni and his family to live happily in simplicity disappeared due to infidelity. Also, even if they forget the disgrace, the impact is still difficult to avoid.
This story also contains the message of the importance of maintaining morals. Losing control will bring disaster. Moreover, if the police take care of it so that a very 'intimate' matter becomes public consumption.
