AppearanceYuyu Rumpung is a giant with the head of a crab. He is one of the Alengka royal retainers who was placed by Prabu Dasamuka in the ocean. He is very powerful. It can live in water and land. This puppet is made in the form of a giant with a snub nose, a gaping mouth showing his teeth and fangs, twinkling eyes showing through his eyes, flowing hair, two large crab chopsticks, a loincloth, and an armed weapon tucked in his stomach. That is one interpretation of the form of Ditya Yuyu Rumpung's wayang, of course every puppeteer, creator and fan of wayang can interpret it differently.

Yuyu Rumpung – (Servant) – Ramayana

Yuyu rumpung appears in the play "Rama Tambak". When the Ramawijaya army of wanara soldiers were building a pond/embankment for a bridge to cross their army to the Alengka country, Yuyu Rumpung disrupted the construction of the bridge countless times by collapsing the base of the embankment. Wadya Wanara repeatedly built again and repaired it but several times the embankments collapsed and sank due to Yuyurumpung's actions.

Yuyu Rumpung's sabotages were eventually discovered by the monkey named Pramujabahu/Kapi Sarpacita who was carrying out an investigation. Hanoman made observations from the sky by flying as high as possible so that all of Ditya Yuyu Rumpung's actions could be observed.

Hanoman, who was pressed, on one occasion was able to wrap his tail around Yuyu Rumpung's body and pull him to the plain. Because Ditya Yuyu Rumpung is depicted as a crab-headed giant and has tongs, Hanoman's tail was pinched by Ditya Yuyu Rumpung, getting tighter and tighter. Hanoman jerked Yuyu Rumpung to land until Yuyu Rumpung fell, was caught and killed in battle until his head was crushed.

Finally the monkey army was able to finish the construction and crossed to Alengka country. There an exciting war ensued which was won by the monkey army.

This is the story of Ditya Yuyu Rumpung which was heard in one of the wayang tapes performed by a well-known puppeteer. Perhaps there are still many puppeteers who have other sanggit.
