== Irawan - (Raden) - Mahabharata ==
Bambang Irawan, son of Raden Arjuna and his marriage to Dewi Ulupi, daughter of Resi Kanwa, a priest on Mount Yasarata.
Irawan always lives in the hermitage with his mother. Only when necessary he comes to Pendawa country. Because of his power he once became a king, named Prabu Gambiranom and when he became king he managed to bring Arjuna's heirloom arrow, named Ardadedali and therefore Irawan's power increased. 
When he was King Gambiranom, he had a female soldier called Ladrangmungkung. This soldier is powerful and can defeat Raden Arjuna.
Irawan was asked by his mother to capture Raden Arjuna. Dewi Ulupi's request was fulfilled, but Arjuna was killed and by female warriors brought before Dewi Ulupi. After Arjuna touched Dewi Ulupi's hand, he came back to life. This is Arjuna's custom.

When Irawan was old enough and heard the news that Bahratayudha would soon break up, he asked his mother and grandfather to go to his father. He wanted to join his other brothers to help the Pandavas. Irawan's intentions were approved by his mother and grandfather.
When Irawan went to war, on the way he was intercepted by a powerful giant king Kalasrenggi. A war broke out and Bambang Irawan was killed by Kalasrenggi on the seventh day of Baratayuda. The death of this knight was greatly regretted by the Pendawa family, because he died before arriving on the battlefield. 
Hearing the news of his son's death, Arjuna then went on a rampage and hunted down Kalasrenggi. This giant finally died from Arjuna's Harda Dadali heirloom arrow.

Bambang Irawan has wide eyes and a pointed nose. Twisted lizards. Edited kembuk kluwih. Crescent-shaped putran necklace. Ringing, popping and curling. Dressed in turbans and cindai pants. To depict King Gambiranom, the King Seberang puppet was used well. He is married to Dewi Titisari, daughter of Prabu Kresna.

In general, the puppeteers in telling the story of Irawan's death give the impression that Irawan died because he was a sacrifice for the glory of the Pandavas in Baratayuda. However, in the Mahabharata version, Irawan was killed on the eighth day of Baratayuda by Prabu Alambasa who sided with the Kurawas. Alambasa then died on the 14th day at the hands of Irawan's cousin, Gatotkaca. 
In puppetry, Bambang Irawan is also known by other names, namely Gambir Anom and Bambang Jaganala. The name Gambir Anom was used when Irawan became king in Paranggupita, in a carangan play. 
In the play, King Gambir Anom had a female senopati named Dewi Ladrangmungkung who was very powerful. Ladrangmungkung even succeeded in killing Arjuna and bringing his body before Prabu Gambir Anom. Arjuna then woke up from his death, after he was touched by Dewi Palupi.
